Racketts, Basildon.

21st October 2007.

The day didn’t start too well, Paul (of Arrowsmith components) picked me up on time and we got on to the M20, which is near my house, and stopped. One car had smashed into the barrier, a 4x4 was severely crumpled near it and 3 dented cars were on the hard shoulder, no-one was hurt though. Great we thought, sat at the front of the queue were we going to get there?

Luckily enough, we were moving 15 minutes later. One more junction down however, the signs were flashing ‘junctions 1-3 closed’. Great. That meant we had to get off the motorway and go cross-country, thank goodness Paul has lived in the area for years and knew all the routes. With all that and the tunnel being sticky, I didn’t think we’d make it, but we got there in plenty of time.

I was nice and relaxed by the time the shoot started and stayed focused the entire round.

I got a headache half way through and thanks to Alex and his handiwork, I kept going. I was rewarded with a nice 576, but I didn’t have the satisfaction of beating my competition as they retired.

I won the session and overall, 2 more gold medals in the bag. The journey back was much less eventful!
